Windows 7 Release Candidate Review

Evaluation Copy, Build 7100-
Hi all, this short review will just touch upon a couple of the features which really hit me about windows 7.

Taskbar:-
Windows taskbar has a major update with programs being allotted their own 'group' status, so that however many windows or instances of a certain application that are open, they are all set in the same group. Each group appears as the icon used from the launcher, and no longer has the default area used for text which previously took up a certain amount of space, and which proved little use when navigating through many windows. So how do you know what program or window/instance is what, from a group? You mouse over the application icon in the taskbar! A moment, and there appears a menu of all the windows that have previously opened. This hidden menu provides pretty much the same amount of text that appeared in previous versions of windows when applications were viewed from the taskbar, however, much more noticeably, a real-time representation of what is happening in that window is also displayed, in a tiny box which seems to render most actions made in the windows environment. The menu is swift, and allows for fast cleanup when you want to do some housekeeping.
The iconic representation for each application open keeps the taskbar relatively uncluttered and seemingly bare, and I can say personally that this space is a much needed luxury. Overall, this new taskbar system allows the user to sort apps without the previous headache of identification and navigation.

Search:-
Search is nice. Seriously! You can actually find the stuff you want, and at a good speed! No longer is there any need to install 3rd party search plugins for windows. Search seems to have been added to different places which makes launching files or finding an app (or version) pain free! The new search has restored my faith in the developing function at microsoft :D

Customisable Visuals:-
Why is customisation any different to other versions? You can downgrade the visuals for the sake of performance! This is not a bad feature at all, and should it be enhanced at all and with other features.., could leave one to wonder about dynamic terminals that would be able to switch between server and client! Perhaps a little too wild.

Control Panel:-
The updated control panel is easier to navigate. The category style has been improved and really does seem to offer the most popular controls in ordered list style. You'll still find that you find it necessary to turn down the User Account Control settings.

Leave some room for updates ;]
